Come and learn the theory for your Learner Licence test. Learn how to make safe decisions around driving and understand the NZ Road Code.

Are you at least 16 years old?
You can apply for your learner test in 7 easy steps!
- Go to a driver licensing agent in your area
- Complete the application form DL1
- Take with you identity and address evidence
- Take a test to prove that your eyesight meets the standards
- Take a picture and provide your signature
- Pay both learner driver licence test and application fees
- Take and pass the learner licence theory test
What is a learner licence theory test?
The theory test is a computer-based test with 35 multiple-choice questions about road rules and safe driving practices. To pass the test you need to get at least 32 questions right.
